"4-Teen:" New name, same group:

Where did we get the name "14?"

1. "From David to the Babylonian exile, 14 generations; from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah, 14 generations" (Matthew 1:17)

2. Jacob was a slave for 14 years so that he could marry Rachel (Gen 20). Jacob was the father of Joseph in the OT, and St. Joseph also had a father named Jacob. St. Joseph is the patron saint of our ministry center, set to open this year!

3. And, last but not least, this group is for teens! (get it? For-Teen?!)

Story of the Month

I was recently in a Catholic Book Store, and saw a Mother Teresa Prayer card, which reminded me of one of our leaders, Julia. I grabbed it to give to her, but forgot the intention. Later that day, she and another HS participant were grabbing some prayer cards, when Julia randomly grabbed the one of Mother Teresa: "I LOVE Mother Teresa!" she said, "can I have it?" At that I remarked affirmatively, informing her how it had reminded me of her and how I had intended for her to have it, to which she replied that Mother Teresa is her Confirmation Saint. The power of intercessory prayer! Your saints chase after you and want to be with you in your journey to Christ, are you letting them?
