Preparation for Sunday's Readings
Practice, Practice, Practice
Each and every one of us should be prepared to proclaim Sunday's readings, even if we are not scheduled to read. Each of us could be called upon to read at any given Mass because of an emergency of the scheduled reader.
Besides, doesn't it make sense to use every opportunity to practice our ministry? Does a baseball player only practice hitting when he knows he is in that day's game lineup?

Here is a trick I have learned to loosen the tongue and lips while practicing reading...
Take a wooden pencil and place it length-wise between your teeth. While holding it in your mouth practice your reading. First of all it forces you to slow down and secondly it helps with pronunciation.
